Salsa is a music and a dance style. Salsa is best known for being a social dance and has many enthusiasts around the world.
The dance has evolved in several directions and we have different salsa styles including LA (Los Angeles) salsa (on1), NY (New York) salsa (on2) or salsa Casino (cuban style).
The music genre has evolved from various Afro-Cuban music styles such as son, mambo, cha cha cha, guaracha and so on. The term salsa developed in the Latin community in New York in the 1960s, and and has a lot of influences from Cuban music genres, as well as elements from other Caribbean countries, such as Puerto Rico.
Salsa is played and danced all over Latin America, and has also become popular in the rest of the world, with dance courses in different styles.
An important musical detail, is called the clave rhythm, a syncopated figure with 3 strokes in one beat and 2 in the next. (Wikipedia)

We have salsa courses in central Oslo. We have fairly small groups so you get a more personal and tailored course than in some of the larger schools.
